Grey Goose and Club C30 Present: The Return of Collette
Thursday 15th, of May 2008
The Chitown SheJay Returns to spin and sing The Chitown SheJay Returns to spin and sing With her disarming doe eyes and a heartwarming demeanor, Colette possesses the unmistakable voice of post-millennial house music. Her sweet-but-sultry voice has been called "angelic" so many times, it's a miracle she hasn't grown wings. With the ability of singing while DJing, Colette's sets have the unique twist of live performance mixed with flawless technical skill. Now 2 albums deep, both of which have topped iTunes' dance charts, Colette has cemented herself as one of house music's most gifted talents. Don't miss this exclusive Bangkok performance by Chi-town's first lady of house!
Burmese Cyclone Relief Party On Saturday, May 17th, Q Bar Bangkok in association with the International Burmese Monks Association (IBMA), will be holding a benefit to help support the hundreds of thousands of Burmese citizens whose lives have been affected by the disastrous impact of Cyclone Nargis. The IBMA will ensure that funds raised will go directly to those in need by transmiting funds directly to monasteries in affected areas.
In many of the worst-hit areas, the monasteries are the only source of shelter and food for Burma's poorest people. They have been on the front lines of the aid effort since the storm struck. Other forms of aid could be delayed, diverted or manipulated by the Burmese government--but the monks are the most trusted and reliable institution in the country.
As many of us now know from various news feeds, the death toll for this catastrophic event may reach into the 100,000’s. The number of lives impacted through loss of homes, lands, jobs, and ensuing disease could reach into the millions.
Shari Villarosa, who heads the U.S. Embassy in Myanmar, said food and water are running short in the delta area and called the situation there "increasingly horrendous."
Now is the time, for those of us fortunate enough to still have homes, food, and water, to act. Much like we did back in 2004 to support victims of the tsunami, Q Bar Bangkok would like to help raise funds and awareness for this crisis.
We will donate 400 Baht per paid entrance to help support the IBMA efforts.
In addition, guests are encouraged to make an additional personal donation into our IBMA box.

800 Baht includes 2 free drinks (400 Baht goes to IBMA)

In addition to all this we welcome our newest resident Jazz Vocalist and Horn Player Idrees!
Idrees hails from a historic jazz family from Harlem, New York that began in the 1940’s a family that claims three generations of professional musicians.
Father Al Barrymore played with Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, The Ink Spots. Step-
mom is jazz legend Dakota Staton (Aliyah Dawud), former Capital Records artist, having recorded with George Shearing and Sid Feller Orchestra among others.
In the six years performing Idrees has proven to be a top draw for jazz in all settings around the world. From Beijing to Bangkok, Shanghai to St. Moritz he is being requested worldwide. Idrees has performed before royalty in Thailand, The Prince of Bahrain, and dignitaries such as President Bill Clinton.
If it's straight-ahead jazz or Blues you want, or jazzy Brazilian / Afro-Cuban music,
Idrees serves it up in just the right portion, and now for those with less traditional, more hip tastes, Idrees is paired up with DJ Freddy Funk to mix his sound into the Evesdrop Monday melody featuring his distinct horn and soulful vocals.
