Jok
Whungsuriya
Thai/Sanskrit for Jade, Circle of the Sun.
A shining beacon of light in the dark of nightlife,
Jade (aka Joeki), the original resident DJ at Bangkoks
notorious Q Bar, keeps the magic spinning on the turntable
of life.
Early exposure to a multitude of cultures, languages
and trends was key in his thirst for discovery and experimentation.
International schooling coupled with a swedish jazz
fanatical father and Beatles-loving mother, twisted
irony had a significant impact on his upbringing and
all is relayed in his musical style and talent.
His real metamorphosis began at university when he was
awarded an overseas scholarship as a diplomatic major,
attaining class presidency in a strict private institute.
Throwing debaucherous memorable parties and lead singing
in a heavy metal band paved the way to honing his understanding
of DJ culture.
On returning to Bangkok, diploma in hand, a residency
at Axil Cafe proved his finesse, as it became the hottest
cafe with tables thrown out to make way for illegal
dancing. Jok then ventured on to tour the majority of
Bangkoks finest locations until being seduced
again into residency, this time at Q bar.
Currently entertainment director/resident dj at Q Bar,
together with long time partner in crime Billy V, they
provide energy, heart and soul, attracting and delighting
Bangkoks party-hungry, fun-loving populous and
top class guest djs. "It's absolutely vital the
right audio ingredients are selected from residents,
local and illustrious international names Yes, MTV's
greatest hits can pack a bar, but wheres the quality
or originality in that?"

With
Q Bar's dream team in position, Jok has found time for
international exposure starting with a mysterious trip
to perform in the Middle East at his Royal Highness's
Private Harem. Declining the offer of a years
contract, Jok returned to travel to KL at the exclusive
club NOUVO, also playing at the Playboy Mansion Party
and launch of Juice Magazine, KL.
Besides performing for the jetsetters of the continent,
he is has his own radio show with 95.5 FMX presently
owned by the multinational corporation Virgin. Joks
experience extends to Thai film, playing the role of
a Thai diplomat in France, to appear in the next French
film festival.
The next logical progression sees Jok involved in the
production of a mixed house album (under his producer
name JADE) with DJ Billy V and jazzy cuts compilation
with David Jacobsen, founder of Q Bar.
Joks vast array of talents pertains to the night,
delight and musical flight to ease, please and tease
all around him. His appetizing journey continues incorporating
new elements in pursuit of unadulterated hedonism for
the city of angels.
