Billy
V was born in Penang, Malaysia but grew up on the
sunny beaches of Sydney. In the fashionably misdirected
80's and early neurotic 90's, Billy launched a company
that managed small underground parties, usually on
boats or within venues that showcased the city's beautiful
harbour. Leaving Australia in 1991, to "travel
and see the world" Billy beached himself in Goa
where he swiftly embraced the hedonistic lifestyle
and most importantly, a vibrant music scene that would
help give rise to todays intrepid musical culture.
After a few years on the "techno hippie circuit"
(India, Nepal and Thailand's Koh Phangan) he found
himself in Bangkok, where over the past eight years
he has established himself as a top-flight club DJ
and promoter. Originally working as part of the DJ
team "Bill 'n' Ollie" and along with Mikey
Mike, BillyV helped to pioneer Bangkok's underground
party scene, organizing dance parties in top drawer
venues including the now legendary Narcissus.
Over the past eight years Billy V has played in all
of Bangkok's top venues including Taurus, CM2, Zulu,
Divine, Rome Club, Spasso, Axil and the Factory to
name but a few. He has manned the wheels of steel
in clubs in Singapore, Malaysia, China and Korea and
played alongside DJ greats such as Ralphie Dee, Jonathan
Yeo, Marx O, DJ Cher, Club Extasy, Bobbie Langley,
Nick Hughes, Shawn Tulsi, Phil K, TC, Bruno Le Petre
(cafe del mar) Derrick Carter, the legendary Norman
Jay, Kevin Yost and most recently the Dum Dum Project.
Billy V spins at Q Bar, Bangkok's coolest nightspot,
famous for it's eclectic music mix, beautiful people
and minimalist decor. His ability to mix lounge, breaks,
US garage, deep and funky house to a discerning and
"up for it" international crowd has carved
him quite a mark on Bangkoks uptown music scene.
Working with longtime DJ partner in crime, Joeki,
Billy keeps it groovy, funky and sexy as they spearhead
Q Bar's lineup.
